This is one of my favorite places to take the kids. We probably visit twice a year. We LOVE nature and science so we spend the entire day here and never get bored.
If you go often enough, consider purchasing the annual membership. It’s totally worth it and pays for itself fast… plus it includes some perks!
They have an indoor cafe and restaurant as well as a coffee shop upstairs, however, you’re allowed to bring your own food if you want to.
There are temporary and permanent exhibits, an IMAX theater, a Planetarium and so much more.
They even offer scavenger hunts! Visit the website for more info on the “Museum Secrets:” http://www.dmns.org/
The hands-on activities are endless. It seems like we do a new activity every time we visit. On the last visit, we got to see Owen’s cells under a microscope.
“A visit to a museum is a search for beauty, truth, and meaning in our lives. Go to museums as often as you can.”
Belle at age 72^^ (she kind of looks like me, eek!)
Owen at age 72^^ (he kind of looks like Uncle Jett, eek!)
Big Man Stegosaurus in the house!^^ Stegosaurus is Colorado’s state dinosaur by the way…
The Prehistoric Journey is SO informational. It’s a full blown evolutionary exhibit of life on Earth.
This exhibit is called Discovery Zone. It’s geared towards younger kids. We were in there for over an hour making pizzas and digging up fossils.
The Wildlife Exhibits^^
Gems and Minerals is my favorite exhibit. The museum re-created a Mine and filled it with a HUGE collection of gems, crystals, rocks and minerals. There’s tons of of good information.
They also have a gift shop with a large collection of gems and minerals FOR SALE. A lot of my personal collection came from the museum. Yes, I’m a nerd. 🙂
If you’re looking for a fun place to hang out with the Fam (or even by yourself!), I suggest checking out the Museum. Especially if you’re a nerd too, you’ll love it! 🙂
