You guys! This is the fastest and easiest side dish I know how to make!!
Besides those bagged salad kits 😛
It only takes three ingredients, and is done in 10 minutes! With the addition of fresh broccoli and cheesy goodness, you can’t go wrong!
I don’t know why I’m shouting! I think I’m excited!! 😀
As a side dish it compliments almost any meat entree.
To begin, prepare the rice according to the package instructions.
Once boiling, add the frozen bag of broccoli.
Now bring it back to a boil, and then cover and simmer according to the package instructions, but I usually go a minute or two longer since the broccoli can slow down the cooking process.
Once the broccoli and rice are tender, mix in 1/2-1 cup of shredded cheese (depending on your cheesy-goodness preference).
That’s it! Did you time yourself? How long did it take to make?
Broccoli, Cheese and Rice. One of my favorite combinations. Please enjoy!

Broccoli Cheese Rice
- 1 package Rice-a-Roni or Knorr Cheddar Broccoli Rice
- 1 bag (typically 12 ounces) Frozen Broccoli
- 1/2-1 cup Shredded Cheese
- 1 tablespoon butter or margarine (optional)
- Pinch of Salt
Following the instructions on the package, bring contents to a boil, and if using it add the butter. Once boiling add the bag of frozen broccoli and bring it back to a boil. Reduce heat, cover and simmer for the time according to package plus 1-2 additional minutes. Once the rice and broccoli are tender, mix in the shredded cheese and a couple dashes of salt. That’s it! Serve!
Serves 4-6 as a side dish.
