Today, September 29th, is National Coffee Day and there’s no better way to celebrate than by enjoying a delicious coffee treat!

Mostly steamed milk and caramel sauce for this one…

This is my version of a caramel latte.  Three ingredients and that’s it!

  • Strong Coffee
  • Caramel Sauce (or chocolate syrup for “Mocha Latte”)
  • Steamed and Frothed Milk

Traditional lattes call for Espresso but I just use really strong coffee. 🙂

How to steam/froth milk in the microwave.

  1. Fill a mason jar about 1/3 full of milk.
  2. Place the lid on the jar and shake vigorously until the milk becomes foamy, about 60 seconds.
  3. Remove the lid and microwave in 30 second intervals until the milk is hot with a frothy layer on top (make sure the froth doesn’t foam over the top)!
  4. Use a larger jar if you’re making multiple lattes. 🙂

Serve it with a GIANT DANISH big enough to fill you up through dinnertime.

Caramel Latte

(For two)

  • 6-8 ounces Strong Coffee
  • 4-6 tablespoons Quick Caramel Sauce
  • (^^you can also use chocolate syrup to make a mocha version)
  • 1-1 1/2 cups Steamed and Frothed Milk

Fill a mason jar about 1/3 full of milk.  Place the lid on the jar and shake vigorously until the milk becomes foamy, about 60 seconds.  Remove the lid and microwave in 30 second intervals until the milk is hot with a frothy layer on top, about 45-60 seconds.  Make sure the froth doesn’t foam over the top!  Use a larger jar (still 1/3 full) if you’re making multiple lattes.

Next, mix 2-3 tablespoons of caramel sauce (use less if using chocolate syrup) into 1/2 cup of hot coffee.

Pour the steamed milk from the mason jar into the coffee.  Spoon the froth on top and drizzle with caramel sauce.  Enjoy!

  1. Hahahaha thanks! It works really well and really fast if you’re looking to “fancy up” your coffee! I also make the frothed milk and add caramel sauce or chocolate syrup to it, and give it to my kids as a special drink (no coffee)…. I call them milk steamers 😁
